Oh Malibu, you elegant beauty. On a nice Sunday, my L. A. Summer Love trip took me to El Matador Beach in Malibu. The coastline road from Venice to Malibu is perfect for enjoying day getaways. The beach was nice but Malibu itself has won my heart over for another reason: it radiates adult coolness, elegance. It’s a beautiful place with beautiful, laid-back, modern people who enjoy life. Malibu has a adult flair to the city. It’s very much grown-up, although still very playful with surfspots and sun worshipers all along the coastline.

With a good book, our photo cameras and the leftovers from yesterday’s dinner (the most delicious pizza I have ever eaten, from The Butcher’s Daughter on Abbot Kinney, Venice), we spent some nice hours at El Matador Beach. It’s just as Miley sings, “The sky is more blue in Malibu”.

Afterwards, we enjoyed ourselves some Starbucks coffee and a quick visit to the Vintage Grocers. That’s where I found a real gem of a lip balm: PORTLAND BEE BALM holds values for everything I like to stand for: protecting our health, protecting wildlife/animals and protecting the environment.
