spread the love on Valentine’s Day

For a single, February 14th has to be planned thoroughly in advance in order to avoid sudden bad mood or sadness as for the state of loneliness on a holiday primarily determined for couples. On this beautiful day of love, no one should miss out on spreading the love and treating others as well as themselves as nicely as possible. As luck would have it, I never had a date with a special someone on Valentine’s Day, but I still managed to create wonderful Valentine’s Day memories. Today, I would like to give you some of my must-dos for Valentine’s Day as a single.

I – Valentine. This year, let everyone close to your heart be your Valentine. Your beloved family and friends. “To be happy, make other people happy” said W. Clement Stone and he was right. Prepare cute hand-written cards for your Valentines. Not only will they appreciate the love, their happiness will also make you feel great about yourself.

II – Dress Up. The spirit of Valentine’s Day begins in your wardrobe. It is all about spreading the love. Dressing nicely (preferably colourful, with floral or heart prints) helps to feel good and excited about the day. It will not only show to others but also reflect on them.

III – Flowers. It’s a classic. Flowers belong to Valentine’s Day like nothing else does. Surely, you will not buy yourself a bouquet of roses (even though that would be just fine). But you can bring some prettiness into your office or home. Let this be the next thing you do after dressing up. Pick your favorite flower and you will realize how the pure view of it will make you smile. If you love flowers just as much as I do, you are very welcome to visit enchanting notions again soon, because some flowery notions are coming up.

IV – Pralines. Even if you have the busiest of work days on Valentine’s Day (which is less probable this year, as Valentine’s Day will be on Sunday), you will find time to buy some delicious chocolate and treat yourself. Pralines make the dullest days bright again and give you the feeling of something special flying in the air. On Valentine’s Day you every woman is entitled to enjoy every bite of chocolate guilt-free! Make the most of it 🙂

V – Movies. I love movies, especially for special occasion. Every year, I pick one or two movies romcoms to watch on Valentine’s Day, cuddling up in a fluffy blanket. My absolute favorites are:

1 You’ve Got Mail (1998)

2 Sleepless In Seattle (1993)

3 When Harry Met Sally (1989)

4 Valentine’s Day (2010)

5 Hitch (2005)

6 How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days (2003)

7 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

8 One Fine Day (1996)

9 Must Love Dogs (2005)

Just as flowers, movies are such a powerful influence on your mood. Indulge in a little me-time dreaming of all the lovely memories that you will make with someone really really special one day.

VI – Wine. And dine. A glass of good wine combined with the delicious pralines and a perfect movie guarantees a promising night.

VII – Girls’ Night Out or Girls’ Night In. The last option is for all the activities suggested above to be shared with your girls – out and about or at home. Have dinner, enjoy dinner (do not forget the dessert), go to the movies and most importantly: spread the love and have fun doing so!

Let me know if you have anything to add. I would love to hear about your Valentine’s Day plans!

-your tiny woman in a giant world
